The special drives, being conducted from 16 to 31 July 2026 under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, focus on improving sanitation at railway stations, highways, slum areas, villages, water bodies and public toilets. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated the land acquisition process for the proposed New Noida township by issuing notifications offering 410% additional compensation to landowners in six villages of Gautam Budh Nagar. The action was undertaken under the directions of the Municipal Commissioner and senior civic officials after the developers allegedly continued construction despite receiving a statutory notice under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, earlier this year. A new bridge connecting Sector 11 in Koparkhairane with the road leading to the Pawaneshwar flyover has been inaugurated in Navi Mumbai, providing a direct route to APMC Market and Turbhe. The 41-metre-long and 7.5-metre-wide structure addresses a connectivity gap in the original CIDCO master plan, which did not include a direct road between Koparkhairane, Bonkode and the APMC area. The bridge is expected to reduce travel distance, fuel consumption and commuting time for residents of Koparkhairane, Khairanegaon and Bonkodegaon, while also serving as an alternative route towards the Thane-Belapur Road and helping ease traffic congestion on the Vashi–Koparkhairane corridor.Read more

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has issued a public advisory outlining the action being taken against unauthorised constructions following directions from the Bombay High Court in ongoing public interest litigation. The civic body said surveys conducted across its jurisdiction identified 12,687 unauthorised constructions, of which 4,946 were found to have no municipal building permission. Pursuant to court orders, notices have been issued to all identified property owners, hearings are underway and demolition action has commenced ward-wise. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is preparing a scientific tree management strategy after widespread tree falls during the heavy rainfall witnessed in July 2026. Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde chaired a meeting with arborists and tree experts to examine the causes behind uprooted trees and identify preventive measures. The experts attributed most incidents to restricted root growth caused by excessive concretisation, improper pruning, waterlogging, root damage during utility works and species-specific characteristics. Aurum PropTech Ltd reported a consolidated net profit of INR 45.18 crore for the first quarter of FY2026–27, reversing a loss recorded a year earlier, primarily due to gains from the sale of two commercial buildings in Navi Mumbai. The Mumbai-based PropTech company also reported a rise in total income to INR 119.01 crore during the April–June quarter. The asset sale, valued at INR 112 crore, was completed during the quarter, with the balance gain recognised as other income from discontinued operations. A portion of the third-floor slab in a residential building at Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai, collapsed during the past week, prompting the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to evacuate the building as a precautionary measure. The incident occurred at Arthav Society in Sector 18, where the slab of Flat No. 302 gave way and fell into the flat directly below. No casualties or injuries were reported. As part of emergency safety measures, civic authorities arranged temporary accommodation for affected residents at Annasaheb Patil Hall in Sector 5, disconnected electricity and water supply to the building, and sealed the premises.
