The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has announced August 17 as the final deadline for voters to submit enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The revision exercise began on June 30, and voters who fail to submit their forms to their Booth Level Officer (BLO) by the extended deadline risk having their names excluded from the draft electoral roll. They would then have to submit Form 6 and complete the enrolment process afresh to have their names included again. To assist voters, special SIR camps will operate at 179 locations on August 8 and 9. Additional evening camps will also be held in parts of the Airoli constituency where form collection and digitisation remain comparatively low. The civic administration has urged voters to submit their forms before the final deadline.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has extended the deadline for voters to submit enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to August 17, with the civic administration describing the extension as the final opportunity for voters to complete the process.
The SIR exercise began on June 30. Voters are required to submit their completed enumeration forms to the Booth Level Officer (BLO) assigned to their electoral roll part. The civic administration has cautioned that voters who do not submit their forms within the prescribed period will have their names excluded from the draft electoral roll.
Voters whose names are subsequently removed would have to submit Form 6 and undergo the enrolment procedure again to seek inclusion in the electoral roll. The NMMC has therefore appealed to eligible voters to submit their forms to the concerned BLO without waiting until the final day.
The civic body has also clarified that voters can submit their enumeration forms even if they cannot find their own name or their parent’s name in the 2002 electoral roll. In such cases, voters have been instructed to fill in their current details in column 3 of the enumeration form, sign the form and attach one of the documents specified by the Election Commission before submitting it to their local BLO.
Special SIR camps will be operational at 179 locations on August 8 and 9 to facilitate form submission. The camps have been arranged under the directions of NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde. Details of the camp locations for the 150 Airoli and 151 Belapur Assembly constituencies have been made available through the civic administration’s designated communication channels.
Additional camps have been planned in the 150 Airoli constituency in electoral roll parts where the collection and digitisation of enumeration forms remain relatively low. These camps will operate from 7pm to 10pm, allowing voters who are away at work during regular hours to complete and submit their forms to BLOs.
Information on the BLO assigned to each electoral roll part has also been made available for voters in both the Airoli and Belapur constituencies.
In the 150 Airoli Assembly constituency, 471,597 enumeration forms had been distributed out of a total electorate of 497,380. Of these, 236,001 completed forms had been submitted by voters to BLOs and their digitisation had been completed.
In the 151 Belapur Assembly constituency, 414,555 forms had been distributed among 422,317 registered voters. A total of 227,950 forms had been completed and submitted to BLOs, with their digitisation also completed.
The figures indicate that form distribution and collection are at different stages across the two constituencies, prompting the civic administration to continue special camps and targeted evening sessions ahead of the final deadline.
Sunil Pawar, Additional District Election Officer and Additional Municipal Commissioner of NMMC, urged voters to treat August 17 as the final opportunity to submit their enumeration forms. He advised citizens not to wait until the deadline and instead use the special camps being conducted in their respective areas over the weekend to submit the documents to their BLOs.
The administration has emphasised that timely submission is necessary for voters seeking to retain their names in the electoral roll following completion of the SIR exercise.
