Shriram Properties posts 46% fall in June quarter profit

Delhi master plan 2047 projects demand for 40 lakh additional homes

Delhi’s draft Master Plan 2047, approved by the Delhi Development Authority and awaiting clearance from the Centre, has projected a requirement for around 40 lakh additional homes by 2047. The plan proposes a three-pronged housing strategy centred on small-format dwellings, affordable rental housing and new development in land pooling and transit-oriented development zones. With limited land availability, dwelling units measuring 25–60 sqm of carpet area have been proposed to increase supply. The draft also provides for slum rehabilitation, regeneration of existing housing stock, improvements in resettlement and regularised unauthorised colonies, and private-sector participation. Land pooling and transit-oriented development areas alone have the potential to accommodate about 30 lakh dwelling units.Read more
