Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has cautioned candidates participating in its 2025-26 direct recruitment process against relying on unauthorised messages claiming that the Junior Engineer (Electrical) examination result has been declared and appointments have been made. The civic body said it had advertised 132 vacant posts across 20 Group A, Group B and Group C cadres in December 2025 and received 19,220 applications. Online objective multiple-choice examinations for six cadres were conducted through Tata Consultancy Services (TCS iON) across 13 centres in six districts in July. The corporation said some candidates had received fraudulent emails asking them to pay INR 9,373 as a processing fee for original document verification. NMMC clarified that no such communication had been issued by its administration and urged candidates to report such demands to local police.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has warned candidates participating in its 2025-26 direct recruitment process against fraudulent emails claiming that the Junior Engineer (Electrical) result has been declared and appointments have been made, with candidates allegedly being asked to pay INR 9,373 as a processing fee for original document verification.
The civic body said the recruitment advertisement for 132 vacant posts across 20 cadres in Group A, Group B and Group C categories was issued in December 2025. The recruitment drive received 19,220 applications from candidates seeking positions across the specified cadres.
As part of the NMMC direct recruitment process for 2025-26, objective multiple-choice online competitive examinations for six cadres were conducted in July through Tata Consultancy Services (TCS iON). The examinations were held across 13 examination centres located in six districts on July 21 and July 22.
Following the online examinations, candidates were provided access to the Answer Key and Objection Form between July 27 and July 29. The facility allowed candidates to review the answer key and raise objections within the prescribed period as part of the examination process.
NMMC said it had subsequently come to its notice that some candidates were being sent fraudulent messages by email. These communications reportedly claimed that the result for the Junior Engineer (Electrical) post had been announced and that candidates had been selected for appointment. The messages also instructed recipients to pay INR 9,373 towards processing charges for verification of original documents.
The municipal corporation clarified that its administration had not sent any such messages to candidates in connection with the recruitment process. It therefore advised applicants not to act on communications that seek money or make claims about selection, appointment or document verification without confirmation through official channels.
NMMC said its recruitment process was being conducted through a strict and transparent procedure and urged candidates not to fall for claims or inducements from individuals offering to secure employment in exchange for money. Candidates who receive such demands or fraudulent communications have been advised to remain vigilant and lodge complaints directly with the local police.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde also urged candidates not to rely on rumours concerning the recruitment process. For verified recruitment-related information, applicants have been advised to refer to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's official website, www.nmmc.gov.in, and its official social media pages.
The warning comes as the civic body's recruitment process continues following the completion of the online examinations and the subsequent answer-key and objection process. NMMC has reiterated that candidates should rely only on information issued through its authorised communication channels.
