• The Maharashtra government has constituted a five-member high-level inquiry committee to investigate the building collapse at the Moshi waste-to-energy plant in Pimpri Chinchwad that claimed nine lives.

• The order was passed by Joint Civil Judge N R Gajbhiye in a civil suit filed by Sheetal Tejwani, acting as the power-of-attorney holder of the original landowners.
• Tejwani, who is also an accused in the ongoing criminal investigation related to the land deal, sought cancellation of the sale deed, contending that the transaction was invalid.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will prepare a structural development plan to guide the Pune Metropolitan Region's growth over the next two decades, with a focus on infrastructure, transport and decentralised economic development. Speaking at the PROP CONNECT 2026 real estate conference in the past week, PMRDA Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari said the draft plan would be prepared shortly and finalised within 18 months. The proposed roadmap includes the development of 18 Growth Centres under initiatives of NITI Aayog and the Maharashtra government, alongside major transport projects such as Metro Line 3, the regional ring road and the proposed international airport. PMRDA said the strategy will initially prioritise infrastructure planning before land-use zoning, while supporting balanced urban expansion, employment generation and improved regional connectivity.Read more

Traffic on the Mumbai-bound carriageway of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway's Missing Link bypass resumed late on Monday after remaining closed for more than 18 hours due to a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) reopened two lanes following detailed safety inspections near Tunnel 2, while one lane remained closed because of continued water flow from the hillside above. The landslide damaged a protective drainage structure but did not affect the structural integrity of the tunnel. During the closure, traffic was diverted through the Lonavala ghat section, contributing to severe congestion on the expressway.
