The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will prepare a structural development plan to guide the Pune Metropolitan Region's growth over the next two decades, with a focus on infrastructure, transport and decentralised economic development. Speaking at the PROP CONNECT 2026 real estate conference in the past week, PMRDA Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari said the draft plan would be prepared shortly and finalised within 18 months. The proposed roadmap includes the development of 18 Growth Centres under initiatives of NITI Aayog and the Maharashtra government, alongside major transport projects such as Metro Line 3, the regional ring road and the proposed international airport. Traffic on the Mumbai-bound carriageway of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway's Missing Link bypass resumed late on Monday after remaining closed for more than 18 hours due to a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall.
