Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Kolkata (SMPK) has reclaimed 15.6 acres of port land spread across 24 parcels following a coordinated effort to remove encroachments. The recovery is part of the port authority’s continuing efforts to protect and improve the use of its land assets. Haryana has approved a standardised digital mechanism for the identification and marking of Prime Khasras, aimed at bringing uniform implementation of the process across the state. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has cleared the Prime Khasra Module on the Revenue Haryana Portal, along with a Standard Operating Procedure and User Manual for its operation. Under the approved system, authorised revenue officers will be able to select and designate a Prime Khasra following verification of relevant records and the uploading of supporting documents. The SOP and User Manual will be circulated to Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Sub-Divisional Officers, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars for implementation.Read more

Land pooling for Amaravati has reached 70.66% in Pedamaddur under the second phase of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS 2.0). Of the 1,018 acres targeted in the village, Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) officials have so far collected 719.35 acres from farmers. The process is progressing with farmers voluntarily coming forward to provide their land for the development of the capital. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has allotted 113 returnable plots to 42 farmers from five Amaravati villages through an e-lottery. The allotment covers farmers who recently contributed land for the development of Amaravati as well as eligible beneficiaries seeking alternative plots due to road alignment, court cases or land acquisition affecting their earlier allotments. The lottery was conducted using an online randomisation system in the presence of the beneficiaries. The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved changes to the interest payable on delayed land acquisition compensation and concessions on land-related charges for renewable energy projects. The decisions include amendments to Section 72 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, to revise the applicable interest rate when compensation payments are delayed. For renewable energy projects, the Cabinet approved exemption from stamp duty on internal land transfers between companies within a group or special purpose vehicles and a 25% concession on land transfer fees for purchased land. The Cabinet also cleared proposals covering state agriculture posts, financing for a cooperative sugar factory, private skill universities, social work education and judicial infrastructure in Nanded district.Read more

Peddar Realty emerged as the highest bidder with an offer of INR 1,351 crore, marginally above the civic body’s INR 1,348 crore reserve price. The 30-year lease covers a site with existing mill-worker tenements and shops. The West Bengal government is examining land pooling, industrial parks and changes to land laws to make larger parcels available for industrial development without relying on direct land acquisition. Subrata Gupta, adviser to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, said the state was evaluating land pooling to address fragmented land holdings while reducing direct government involvement in transactions with individual landowners. The approach is politically sensitive in West Bengal, where the Singur and Nandigram land agitations have had significant political consequences. The government is also considering closed industrial sites as an alternative source of land and reviewing rules governing land holding and utilisation. Gupta said repealing the Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act would not by itself resolve the issue because industrial units generally fall outside its scope.
