The Indian Air Force has initiated a court of inquiry following a hard landing involving a Sukhoi-30MKI aircraft at Pune Airport, which temporarily disrupted flight operations. The incident, attributed to a possible technical issue in the aircraft’s undercarriage, led to runway blockage and forced authorities to suspend operations overnight. As a result, 12 incoming flights were diverted and 73 services cancelled. Operations resumed the following morning after clearance and safety inspections. Investigations are examining multiple factors, including technical faults and landing parameters. The development highlights operational sensitivities at dual-use airports, where military and civilian aviation share infrastructure, often amplifying the impact of such incidents on commercial air traffic.Read more

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has reported a revenue shortfall of nearly INR 3,400 crore for the financial year ending recently, having collected around INR 9,200 crore against a target of INR 12,600 crore. The deficit has been largely attributed to lower-than-expected income from building permissions and weak property tax recovery, particularly in newly merged areas. While the number of taxpayers increased, collections did not keep pace, with a significant portion of revenue coming through an amnesty scheme. Civic officials cited legal complications in land measurement and delays in project approvals as key constraints, while activists raised concerns over the administration's reliance on periodic relief schemes instead of sustained enforcement.Read more

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has introduced a new policy mandating developers to link building permissions with land acquisition for road widening, aimed at addressing persistent infrastructure bottlenecks. Under the rule, developers must submit proposals to surrender affected land within 15 days of applying for approvals and physically hand it over before construction reaches the plinth level. The move comes as Pune's road network remains underdeveloped, with only about 9% of land allocated to roads against a recommended 15%. With traffic concentrated on a limited network of arterial roads, the civic body is seeking to streamline land acquisition and reduce litigation. The policy is expected to play a key role in supporting planned road expansion and improving urban mobility.Read more
