The prosecution opposed the applications, while Patel’s defence sought his release during the ongoing proceedings. The court’s decisions leave Patel without bail in both cases as the investigations continue.
One of the cases relates to allegations concerning land in Chekhla village. The prosecution has alleged that Patel and other accused persons were involved in obtaining control over land through irregular means and using documents that did not accurately reflect the underlying ownership or transaction history. Investigators are examining the manner in which the disputed property was acquired and subsequently dealt with.
The second matter concerns another parcel of land in the Sanand area and forms part of a broader investigation into alleged irregularities surrounding land transactions. The prosecution has maintained that the allegations involve substantial property interests and that the accused should not be granted bail while the investigation is at a critical stage.
The prosecution also raised concerns about the potential impact of granting bail on the investigation. It argued that the allegations were serious and that there was a possibility of the accused influencing witnesses or interfering with evidence if released. The prosecution relied on the nature of the alleged transactions and the material collected during the investigation while opposing the bail pleas.

The courts considered the competing submissions before refusing relief to Patel. The bail decisions do not amount to a final finding on the allegations and the charges against the accused remain subject to the continuing criminal proceedings.
The Chekhla case concerns land that became the subject of a criminal investigation after allegations were raised over the manner in which ownership or possession had allegedly been obtained. Investigators are examining documents connected with the property as well as the roles of the individuals named in the case.
The Sanand matter similarly involves allegations relating to the acquisition or control of land. The prosecution's case is that the transactions were not conducted through legitimate means and that the accused benefited from the disputed dealings. Patel’s defence has denied the allegations.
