Hazoor Multi Projects has secured an INR 193.85 crore order from the National Highways Authority of India for operating as a user fee agency at Paranur Fee Plaza on NH-45 in Tamil Nadu. The contract, awarded through the e-tender process, has a tenure of 12 months and also covers maintenance of the building infrastructure located next to the toll plaza. The order adds to the company’s recent road-related contracts from NHAI and strengthens its presence in highway operations and infrastructure services. Tamil Nadu has dropped plans to build a second airport for Chennai at Parandur, a project estimated to cost INR 274 billion (USD 2.86 billion), and is now looking at alternative locations with less impact on agricultural land. The proposed airport had received civil aviation clearance under the previous government but faced opposition from farmers. Chennai is a major manufacturing and industrial centre, with factories and suppliers linked to Hyundai, Renault, Apple, Foxconn and Tata Electronics. ASK Property Fund, the real estate investment arm of Blackstone-backed ASK Asset & Wealth Management Group, has exited its investment in Shriram 122 West, a residential development by Shriram Properties in Mangadu, Chennai. The fund realised INR 340 crore against an investment of INR 215 crore, generating a gross investment multiple of about 1.6 times. The exit was announced on Tuesday, 18 August. ASK had provided growth capital to the project in 2023. Shriram 122 West has approximately two million sq ft of saleable area and is located on the outskirts of Chennai. The investment formed part of a co-investment platform between ASK Property Fund and Shriram Properties focused on residential and plotted development opportunities.Read more

Chennai-based real estate developer GT Bharathi has secured a licence from the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) to develop a World Trade Center business in Chengalpattu district, Tamil Nadu. The WTC is planned as the anchor of an integrated, IT-centric mixed-use township spanning approximately 150 acres, with a projected development value of around INR 7,000 crore. The proposed development will combine commercial and retail spaces, data centres, residential and luxury housing, education and hospitality facilities. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured an order valued between INR 10,000 and INR 15,000 crore to build the country's largest single-cluster artificial intelligence infrastructure facility, marking the company's entry into the AI Factory business. Through its AI infrastructure arm, LTN Compute, and its AI and data centre business, Vyoma.AI, L&T will set up an NVIDIA B300-based AI Factory at its Chennai data centre campus to power the AI-native cloud platform of US-based Together AI. Chennai-based residential developer DRA has started presence-less property registration and e-sale deed services for its customers under Tamil Nadu’s STAR 2.0 digital registration framework. The company has established dedicated infrastructure and digital compliance systems at its head office to enable customers to complete registrations remotely without visiting Sub-Registrar Offices. DRA said the system offers greater flexibility, including registrations on weekends, public holidays and auspicious days. The developer is the first CREDAI Tamil Nadu member to adopt the framework and has been working with the Inspector General of Registration’s office and TCS to improve the process based on customer experience.Read more

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has suspended its revised property tax assessments for properties identified as under-assessed, following complaints from residents over higher-than-expected tax demands. The decision, announced on Thursday, restores the tax payable for affected properties to the amount applicable before the revision. The exercise was undertaken to correct assessments where property details did not match the corporation’s records. Chennai Metro Rail Phase-II has achieved 54.62% physical progress on its planned 118.9-km network, with the Union government releasing INR 14,545.91 crore for the project so far. The INR 63,246-crore Phase-II project comprises three corridors Madhavaram-SIPCOT, Lighthouse-Poonamallee Bypass and Madhavaram-Sholinganallur with around 42 km underground. The project is being monitored by the Centre and Tamil Nadu government at multiple levels. Meanwhile, the 14.64-km Poonamallee Bypass-Vadapalani stretch, the first operational section of Phase-II, has completed mandatory safety clearances and is awaiting its inauguration date.Read more
