The Maharashtra government has directed authorities to prepare a comprehensive redevelopment blueprint for the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking, focusing on public welfare, employee interests and Mumbai’s long-term urban development. Chairing a review meeting on the modernisation of BEST bus depots, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the plan should cover the redevelopment of 22 depots spread across 132 acres, staff housing, public amenities and financial sustainability.
