The Centre’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has crossed 41 lakh beneficiary households, with the government aiming to reach 75 lakh rooftop solar-powered homes by the end of 2026. Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said more than 65 lakh applications are currently under process, reflecting strong adoption of residential solar energy across the country. Launched in February 2024 with an outlay of INR 75,021 crore, the scheme provides subsidies for rooftop solar installations and offers households up to 300 units of free electricity each month.
