Vimag Labs secures fifth Indian patent for magnet-free electric motor technology

Bengaluru-based deep-tech company Vimag Labs has secured its fifth patent in India for its proprietary Virtual Magnet Synchronous Motor (VMSM) platform, strengthening its intellectual property portfolio as it advances commercial deployment of software-defined electric motor technology. The newly granted patent covers the core architecture of a magnet-free synchronous motor that uses power electronics and proprietary control algorithms instead of rare-earth permanent magnets. The company said the technology is being piloted with two-wheeler and passenger vehicle manufacturers, with expansion planned into commercial vehicles, industrial applications, robotics and defence. Backed by Accel, Vimag Labs recently raised USD 5 million in a Series A funding round and has entered into a manufacturing agreement with Jendamark Pvt. CBI files chargesheets in two Bengaluru homebuyer fraud cases against developers and bank officials

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed two chargesheets in separate cases involving alleged fraud against homebuyers in Bengaluru, naming Ithaca Estate Pvt Ltd, LGCL Urban Homes (India) LLP, their directors and officials of HDFC Bank Ltd and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd. The chargesheets, filed before designated CBI courts in Bengaluru in the past week, allege that the accused conspired to induce homebuyers and investors through false assurances and fraudulent representations, resulting in wrongful financial gains. The agency said the cases form part of a wider Supreme Court-monitored investigation into alleged irregularities involving 34 builder companies and unidentified officials of financial institutions across the country. The CBI has so far filed 13 chargesheets in connection with these ongoing investigations.Read more
