Global semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies AG has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire C2i Semiconductors, a technology enterprise headquartered in Bengaluru, India. The transaction, announced in late August 2026, focuses on integrating software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages into Infineon's existing semiconductor operations. The deal enhances Infineon's research and development presence in India, where it currently maintains a workforce of approximately 2,800 employees. Subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing requirements, the transaction is expected to complete in the third quarter of the 2026 calendar year.
German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies AG has agreed to acquire C2i Semiconductors, a Bengaluru-based firm specializing in software-defined multiphase controllers and intelligent power stages. The corporate acquisition aims to enhance power delivery systems for artificial intelligence data centres and high-performance computing platforms. By absorbing the firm, Infineon seeks to integrate advanced digital control capabilities into its semiconductor systems, providing scalable power distribution from grid connection points directly to the processor core. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, with final closing slated for the third quarter of calendar year 2026.
The transaction addresses growing energy requirements within artificial intelligence infrastructure. High-performance computing processors generate dynamic power demands that necessitate immediate, precise responses to electrical load fluctuations. C2i Semiconductors brings expertise in intelligent digital power management and system-level power architectures, particularly regarding vertical power delivery mechanisms such as Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators. Combining software-defined power solutions with physical hardware allows data centre operators to optimize voltage conversion, control dynamic energy demands, reduce total power losses, and manage higher power densities in next-generation processing environments.
The integration unites C2i Semiconductors' digital control technology with Infineon’s production infrastructure and existing semiconductor portfolio, which includes silicon, silicon carbide, and gallium nitride technologies. Adam White, President of Infineon’s Power Systems division, stated that the acquisition would expand the firm’s technical capabilities in next-generation vertical power delivery architectures while establishing a center of excellence for digital power technologies in India. Ram Anant, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of C2i Semiconductors, noted that joining Infineon gives the firm access to global manufacturing assets and international commercial relationships, accelerating the deployment of software-defined power architectures to global infrastructure clients.
The acquisition further expands Infineon's engineering footprint in Bengaluru, reinforcing India’s role within its international research and development operations. Infineon currently maintains a workforce of approximately 2,800 people in India across its technology and engineering business units. For the 2025 fiscal year ending 30 September 2025, Infineon reported total revenues of approximately EUR 14.7 billion and employed nearly 57,000 workers globally. The transaction aligns with Infineon's broader corporate strategy to develop power systems for decarbonization and industrial digitalization across global markets.
