Germany-based KRONES has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for bottling machinery at Vemagal Industrial Area in Karnataka’s Kolar district. The INR 315 crore facility, spread across 16,000 square metres, has been established in 18 months and is expected to create around 400 jobs. The company received approval for its investment proposal in October 2024 and was allotted 30 acres for the project. The facility will manufacture ErgoBloc packaging systems and machinery for different types of bottles, including equipment capable of producing up to 1,00,000 Coca-Cola-type bottles per hour.
Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil inaugurated Germany-based KRONES’ new manufacturing facility for bottling machinery at the Vemagal Industrial Area in Kolar district on Wednesday.
The facility has been established in 18 months. KRONES, a global company in beverage and liquid-food processing and packaging technology, has invested INR 315 crore in the project.
The company received approval for its investment proposal from the Karnataka government in October 2024 and was allotted 30 acres of land. Patil later performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the facility in February 2025.
Spread across 16,000 square metres, the manufacturing facility is expected to create around 400 jobs. Patil said Vemagal and Kolar, located close to Bengaluru, have strong potential for industrial development and urged companies setting up operations in the region to provide employment opportunities to local youth based on their educational qualifications.
The facility will manufacture KRONES’ ErgoBloc packaging systems for the Indian market, along with machinery used to produce different types of bottles. According to Patil, the plant will also manufacture machines capable of producing up to 1,00,000 Coca-Cola-type bottles per hour.
KRONES employs around 21,000 people globally and recorded a turnover of USD 5.65 billion last year. The company’s new Karnataka facility is expected to add to the state’s manufacturing base and strengthen its presence in India.
Patil also said the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), the state agency responsible for developing industrial areas, has played an important role in supporting an investor-friendly industrial environment.
