• The Odisha government has notified guidelines for a new Bridge-Cum-Weir Scheme with an estimated outlay of INR 600 crore over five years.
• The programme aims to utilise existing rural bridges as water retention structures to improve groundwater recharge, irrigation and water availability across the state.
• A total of 670 projects, including 162 spillover works and 508 new projects, have been planned between FY 2026-27 and FY 2030-31.

• Madhya Pradesh has launched the INR 5,017 crore Ujjain-Jaora Greenfield Highway project to strengthen road connectivity across the Malwa region.
• The 98.73-km four-lane corridor will provide direct access to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and improve connectivity between Ujjain and Jaora.
• The project is expected to support industrial growth, logistics, tourism and preparations for Simhastha 2028.
• The highway will be developed by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and is targeted for completion by December 2027.Read more

• Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL), a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, has entered into a debt restructuring agreement with the National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL), a government-owned entity.
• The restructuring will reduce MMOPL's outstanding debt by more than INR 1,100 crore and lead to the withdrawal of insolvency proceedings initiated against the company.
• MMOPL operates the Versova–Andheri–Ghatkopar Metro Line-1, one of Mumbai's busiest metro corridors, serving over five lakh commuters daily.
• The agreement covers financial obligations of INR 2,771.32 crore and includes a monitoring mechanism to oversee implementation of the restructuring plan.Read more

• Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (GujRERA) has tightened scrutiny of new real estate project registrations after finding that nearly 50% of applications under review involve developers with pending complaints or regulatory proceedings.
• Developers seeking approval for new projects are now being asked to resolve outstanding complaints, penalties and other dues before fresh registrations are granted. In some cases, projects have received conditional approvals subject to compliance within stipulated timelines.
• The enhanced due diligence covers both complaints filed by homebuyers and suo motu proceedings initiated by the regulator, with the aim of improving accountability and protecting homebuyers.
• GujRERA is also preparing to display developers' complaint histories on its public portal, enabling prospective buyers to review a promoter's regulatory track record before investing in a project.Read more

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a mass plantation drive in Gujarat's Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, where over one crore trees were planted in a single day under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. The Delhi government has requested the Centre to declare the 8.8-km Mandi Road in south Delhi a National Highway and transfer its development to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has written to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, stating that the move would enable integrated planning, uniform engineering standards and faster infrastructure upgrades. The corridor links Delhi with Faridabad and Gurugram and serves as an important route for inter-state traffic. • The Maharashtra government has constituted a five-member high-level inquiry committee to investigate the building collapse at the Moshi waste-to-energy plant in Pimpri Chinchwad that claimed nine lives.

Cube Highways Trust has secured investment commitments of INR 1,250 crore from strategic investors, including Premji Invest and HDFC Group entities, ahead of its proposed INR 5,000 crore initial public offering (IPO), which will open for subscription on July 22. The issue, comprising an offer for sale (OFS) by existing unitholders, marks the trust's transition from a privately listed to a publicly listed Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT). The InvIT owns a portfolio of 27 operational road assets covering 8,754 lane kilometres across 12 states and one Union Territory, with an average residual concession period of 18 years. The trust's assets under management increased to INR 36,842 crore in FY26 following nine acquisitions, reflecting continued expansion of its operational road portfolio.Read more

The Maharashtra Legislature has passed an amendment to the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Act to revive the implementation of Section 79A, clearing a major legal hurdle that had stalled the redevelopment of more than 13,000 old and dilapidated cessed buildings in Mumbai. The amendment seeks to restore MHADA's powers to intervene when landlords fail to initiate redevelopment of unsafe structures while enabling occupants to undertake redevelopment with majority consent. • The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set August 31, 2026, as the deadline for completing the Vidyavihar railway flyover, which is expected to improve east-west connectivity in Mumbai's eastern suburbs.

• A Maharashtra government-appointed committee has submitted an interim report recommending the removal of eight religious structures and the relocation or consolidation of three others in Dharavi Sector 1 as part of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project.
• The recommendations are based on the Supreme Court's September 29, 2009 cut-off date for unauthorised religious structures on public land, with post-cut-off structures proposed for removal.
• The committee has identified 590 religious structures across the redevelopment area and has begun a phase-wise review, having conducted 149 hearings involving trusts, community representatives and government officials.

HFCL has secured an export order worth approximately USD 51.98 million (INR 495.8 crore) from an international data centre company to supply optical fibre cable-based connectivity solutions. The contract, awarded through the company's overseas wholly owned material subsidiary, is scheduled for execution by December 2026. The order follows HFCL's recent launch of its OptiQ AI data centre solutions portfolio and comes as the company expands its optical fibre manufacturing capacity.
