Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the progress of key development projects, law and order arrangements, and preparations for the upcoming Shravan month in Varanasi. He instructed officials to complete ongoing infrastructure works on time while maintaining quality standards. The review covered the ropeway project, Jal Jeevan Mission works, road restoration, traffic management, sanitation, healthcare, security, and civic facilities for devotees. The Chief Minister also stressed better coordination among departments to ensure smooth execution of development works and uninterrupted public services during the religious season.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently reviewed the progress of major development projects, the law and order situation, and preparations for the upcoming Shravan month during a meeting with public representatives and senior officials in Varanasi. The review focused on ensuring timely completion of infrastructure projects while making adequate arrangements for the large number of devotees expected to visit the city during the holy month.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete all ongoing priority projects within the prescribed timelines without compromising on construction quality. He specifically reviewed the progress of the integrated divisional office building and the Varanasi ropeway project, asking departments to remove pending bottlenecks so that work continues without delays. The ropeway project is one of the city's major urban mobility initiatives aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity.
He also instructed officials to speed up works under the Jal Jeevan Mission and said that roads excavated for laying drinking water pipelines should be restored simultaneously instead of waiting until the project is completed. The Chief Minister emphasised that residents should not face inconvenience due to prolonged road digging and incomplete restoration work.
The review also covered preparations for the Shravan month, when Varanasi witnesses a sharp rise in the number of pilgrims visiting temples, particularly the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Officials were instructed to ensure proper crowd management, sanitation, drinking water supply, traffic regulation, healthcare services, parking facilities and uninterrupted power supply. Adequate deployment of security personnel and smooth coordination among departments were also emphasised to manage the expected rush of devotees.
The Chief Minister directed the district administration to maintain strict vigilance on law and order and ensure that civic amenities remain available throughout the religious period. He also asked officials to regularly inspect arrangements on the ground and address public grievances without delay. Departments were instructed to work in coordination so that both residents and visitors experience minimal inconvenience during the festival season.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of other public infrastructure and development works across the district. Officials were asked to monitor projects closely, improve execution wherever required and maintain accountability for timely delivery. The Chief Minister reiterated that development works should directly benefit citizens while maintaining transparency and quality standards across all projects.
Varanasi has remained a major focus area for infrastructure investment in recent years, with projects including the ropeway system, road upgrades, drinking water infrastructure and urban redevelopment being taken up to improve mobility, public services and facilities for both residents and visitors. The state government has been regularly reviewing these projects to ensure they progress according to schedule.
