The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has received a report from its committee formed to frame sector-specific insolvency guidelines for the real estate sector following directions issued by the Supreme Court in September 2025. The committee examined challenges linked to stalled housing projects, homebuyer protection and delays in insolvency resolution processes, recommending a shift towards a project-centric and completion-driven framework. According to the report, the panel reviewed 55 major issues and proposed 155 recommendations aimed at improving coordination between insolvency proceedings and the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, while strengthening safeguards for homebuyers and project completion timelines.Read more

The Delhi government has cleared infrastructure projects worth over INR 1,000 crore to strengthen Yamuna cleaning efforts and improve sewage and water infrastructure across the capital. The projects include 12 decentralised sewage treatment plants in the Najafgarh region, expansion of the Keshopur sewage treatment plant, rehabilitation of an old trunk sewer line in East Delhi, and a new underground reservoir project in Rohtas Nagar. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to revive Mumbai’s first decentralised waste-to-energy plant at Pali Hill in Bandra after the facility became defunct last year. Operational since 2018, the citizen-led project developed with the Pali Hill Residents Association processed nearly one tonne of organic waste daily and generated electricity for around 69 streetlights in the locality. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is preparing a revised trenching policy amid rising road excavation works linked to utility infrastructure projects and piped natural gas expansion across Mumbai. The civic body has sought higher allocations for trench-refilling and restoration works as existing provisions have been substantially utilised. Under the proposed framework, utility agencies may be required to directly undertake road restoration after excavation activities.
