The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) highlighted the role of textile waste recycling in promoting environmental sustainability and women's empowerment during a World Environment Day programme held at the Textile Recovery Facility (TRF) in CBD Belapur. The facility, established through a partnership involving the Ministry of Textiles' Textile Committee, NMMC, Tisser Artisan Trust, IDH and SBI Foundation, focuses on recycling discarded textiles into usable products while creating livelihood opportunities for women. Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde said the initiative demonstrates how circular economy practices can help address fabric waste, develop new skills among women and generate employment. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has undertaken a city-wide awareness campaign to educate residents, housing societies and institutions about the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, which came into effect on 1 April 2026. As part of activities organised around World Environment Day, civic teams conducted outreach programmes between 5 and 11 June across residential societies and colonies in all eight ward office jurisdictions. The campaign focused on waste segregation at source, mandatory disposal practices and compliance requirements under the new regulations. Officials also highlighted the obligation for bulk waste generators producing more than 100 kg of waste per day to establish on-site waste processing facilities. Third-party logistics provider Emiza has launched a 120,000 sq ft warehouse facility in Farrukhnagar, Haryana, aimed at supporting rising demand from the e-commerce and retail sectors across northern India. The facility, which has a pallet capacity of 15,000, 23 loading docks and the ability to process up to 800,000 orders per month, will function as a dedicated returns-processing centre for partner brands. Two contract workers lost their lives and another was hospitalised after a carbon dioxide (CO2) gas leak occurred during the annual maintenance of fire extinguishers at Schaeffler India Ltd’s manufacturing facility in Talegaon MIDC, Pune district, on June 10. The incident took place while personnel from a private contractor were servicing fire extinguishers at the plant. Three contractor employees and two company staff members were involved in the maintenance activity when gas leaked from a fire extinguisher cylinder. Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Schaeffler India operates the Talegaon facility, which manufactures a range of automotive components and bearing products.Read more

The Delhi government has initiated a revenue audit of concessionaires operating in the Narela and Bawana industrial areas, covering the period from 2011-12 to 2025-26. The exercise will examine financial records, revenue collections, escrow account transactions and payments made under the public-private partnership model implemented by the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC). Auditors will assess whether any deviations, irregularities, excess recoveries, revenue suppression or fund diversions occurred during the redevelopment, operation and maintenance of industrial infrastructure. Kolkata-based PPE manufacturer Mallcom India Ltd has invested more than INR 100 crore in a new manufacturing facility at Sanand, Gujarat, as part of its efforts to expand domestic production, increase localisation and reduce reliance on imports. The facility, which is the company’s 17th manufacturing unit, currently employs over 200 people and is expected to create more than 300 jobs by next year. Evonith Steel has completed the acquisition of Indrajit Power Pvt Ltd (IPPL) in Maharashtra through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) process for INR 232 crore. The acquisition includes an 85 MW thermal power asset located next to the company’s steel manufacturing facility in Wardha. The transaction follows approval from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) earlier this year, where Evonith Steel was selected as the successful resolution applicant. Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has secured a contract worth INR 127 crore from Wangchhu Hydroelectric Power Ltd (WHPL), Bhutan, for diversion and enabling works associated with the Wangchhu Hydroelectric Project. The contract covers the construction of diversion tunnels, hydromechanical gates and cofferdams and is scheduled for completion within nine months. The works are intended to facilitate the commencement of the project's main civil construction activities and support adherence to the overall implementation schedule. The Telangana government has inaugurated a new biologics manufacturing facility developed by Theranym Biologics in Sangareddy district with an investment of INR 1,200 crore. South Korea’s Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has secured a contract for the second phase of the cogeneration power plant at Saudi Aramco’s Jafurah project in Saudi Arabia, strengthening its presence in the kingdom’s energy infrastructure sector. The company expects to generate approximately KRW 2.1 trillion (USD 1.4 billion) in revenue from the project. The facility will have a power generation capacity of 331 MW and produce around 465 metric tonnes of steam per hour. Sattva Group, in partnership with Knowledge Realty Trust and rePurpose Global, has advanced the Karnataka Zero Waste Initiative with a field visit across key waste management and coastal restoration sites in Dakshina Kannada. Launched on Earth Day 2026, the three-year programme aims to recover between 3.5 million and 4.5 million kilograms of waste, integrate 80,000 households into formal waste management systems and reduce plastic leakage across 50 coastal villages. During the visit, representatives reviewed operations at Someshwara Beach, Kadeshwalya village, Pachanady and the Bantwal Material Recovery Facility.
