The Telangana government has inaugurated a new biologics manufacturing facility developed by Theranym Biologics in Sangareddy district with an investment of INR 1,200 crore. Located at Borpatla village, the facility is expected to generate employment for more than 1,500 local youths and strengthen the state's position in the life sciences sector. The plant will manufacture medicines used in the treatment of cancer and other life-threatening diseases, with products targeted for export to international markets, including the United States. State ministers D Sridhar Babu and Damodar Rajanarasimha attended the inauguration ceremony. The project adds to Telangana’s growing pharmaceutical and biotechnology ecosystem and is expected to enhance the global standing of products manufactured in the state.

Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu formally inaugurated Theranym Biologics’ manufacturing facility in Sangareddy district in the past week, marking the commencement of operations at a project developed with an investment of INR 1,200 crore. The facility, located at Borpatla village, is intended to support the production of specialised medicines for critical illnesses while creating employment opportunities for local residents.
According to an official release, the new manufacturing unit is expected to generate jobs for more than 1,500 youths from the surrounding region. The project forms part of Telangana’s continuing efforts to attract investments in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences sectors, which have emerged as key contributors to the state's industrial growth.
The facility has been designed to manufacture biologic medicines used in the treatment of cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Products manufactured at the plant will cater not only to domestic demand but will also be exported to international markets, including the United States, reflecting the company's focus on serving global healthcare requirements.
State officials indicated that the investment would further strengthen Telangana’s position as a major hub for life sciences and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The addition of the Theranym Biologics facility is expected to contribute to the expansion of the state's industrial base while supporting employment generation and export-oriented production.
The government noted that the project aligns with Telangana’s broader strategy of encouraging high-value manufacturing investments across sectors that require advanced technology and specialised skills. The facility is also expected to support the development of a skilled workforce in the region through direct and indirect employment opportunities linked to its operations.
Officials further stated that the establishment of the biologics plant would enhance the visibility and reputation of products manufactured in Telangana within global markets. The state government maintained that the arrival of Theranym Biologics would reinforce the standing of the “Made in Telangana” brand, particularly within the life sciences industry, which continues to attract domestic and international investment.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha along with other senior officials and dignitaries. With commercial operations commencing at the Sangareddy facility, Telangana has added another large-scale investment to its expanding life sciences ecosystem, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities in the production of advanced healthcare and biotechnology products.
