Recognising this challenge, the Delhi government has announced a major infrastructure upgrade for the Wazirpur Industrial Area, focusing on improving roads and drainage networks. The investment is expected to enhance mobility, reduce flooding during the monsoon, and create a more efficient environment for businesses operating in one of the capital's important industrial clusters.
The Delhi government has launched an infrastructure redevelopment project worth approximately INR 75 crore for the Wazirpur Industrial Area, with the objective of modernising internal roads and strengthening drainage facilities. The initiative was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, who highlighted the importance of providing better civic infrastructure to support industrial growth and improve the working environment for businesses.
The project is designed to address long-standing issues faced by industries and commuters in the area, particularly damaged roads and inadequate stormwater drainage that often lead to waterlogging during heavy rainfall. Upgraded road surfaces and improved drainage systems are expected to ensure smoother movement of goods and vehicles while reducing disruptions during the monsoon season.
Wazirpur Industrial Area is one of Delhi's prominent manufacturing and commercial hubs, housing numerous small and medium enterprises across multiple sectors.
