• The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has submitted six final proposals involving cutting and transplantation of over 2,200 trees for the Versova–Dahisar Coastal Road project in Mumbai’s western suburbs.
• According to civic documents and multiple media reports, nearly 1,000 trees are proposed to be cut while around 1,288 trees are planned for transplantation across stretches between Goregaon, Malad and Dahisar.
• The civic body stated that compensatory plantation of more than 19,500 trees will be undertaken in Panvel due to limited plantation space available within Mumbai.
• The proposals have been placed before BMC’s Tree Authority amid opposition from residents and environmental groups over potential green cover loss and mangrove impact linked to the coastal road project.Read more

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s long-delayed Mogra pumping station project in Andheri has moved closer to execution after receiving clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to revive Mumbai’s first decentralised waste-to-energy plant at Pali Hill in Bandra after the facility became defunct last year. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is preparing a revised trenching policy amid rising road excavation works linked to utility infrastructure projects and piped natural gas expansion across Mumbai. • Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation has completed the installation of all 40 stay cables for the under-construction Byculla Cable-Stayed Road Over Bridge in Mumbai.
• The four-lane bridge spans 916 metres and includes a 50-metre-high pylon designed to improve east-west connectivity across Byculla.
• The project is being developed at an estimated cost of around INR 287 crore and is expected to improve traffic movement between South Mumbai, Dadar and the Eastern Express Highway.

Western Railway has cleared nearly 1,500 sq m of encroached land between Goregaon and Malad stations after the Bombay High Court declined relief to occupants challenging eviction proceedings. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has proposed one underground parking facility in each of Mumbai’s 27 wards as part of its congestion management plan.
