The Himachal Pradesh government has signed implementation agreements for 19 hydropower projects with a combined generation capacity of 278 MW and an estimated investment of around INR 3,336 crore. Steel and mining major ArcelorMittal has entered into a strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate automation and digital transformation across its global manufacturing operations. Announced in the past week, the partnership will integrate AWS cloud, artificial intelligence and edge computing technologies into ArcelorMittal’s production processes to improve operational efficiency, asset reliability, workplace safety and energy performance. The company plans to deploy AI-enabled applications including predictive maintenance, computer-vision quality control and digital twins across its facilities worldwide. Building materials group CRH has agreed to acquire US-based infrastructure products and construction materials company Arcosa in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately USD 8.5 billion. Announced in the past week, the deal will see CRH pay USD 150 per share, representing a premium to Arcosa’s recent trading levels. The acquisition strengthens CRH’s position in the North American infrastructure and aggregates market while expanding its exposure to energy transmission, utility infrastructure and data centre-related development. Headquartered in Dallas, Arcosa operates a substantial network of quarries, asphalt plants and terminals across the United States and supplies critical infrastructure products for power transmission projects. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has flagged off the new Bikaner (Lalgarh)-Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) Special train from Bikaner, introducing a direct rail link aimed at improving connectivity between key districts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has scheduled the hearing of 178 long-pending worker-related claim cases involving the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as part of a nationwide drive to accelerate the resolution of labour disputes. India’s eight core infrastructure sectors recorded a growth of 0.5% in May, marking the slowest expansion in seven months, according to government data released on 22 June. The moderation was driven by lower production across coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products and fertilisers. The growth rate was lower than the 1.8% recorded in April and 1.2% in the corresponding month last year. During the first two months of FY2026-27, cumulative growth in the core sectors remained at 1.1%. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 333 development projects valued at more than INR 510 crore in Rajnandgaon district, while reiterating the state government's focus on farmer welfare, rural development and public service delivery. More than 160 farmers and landowners in Raigad district have consented to land acquisition for MMRDA’s proposed Third Mumbai project. The acquisition covers 124 villages across Uran, Panvel and Pen talukas within the 323.44 sq km Karnala-Sai-Chirner New Town area. Landowners are being offered compensation through cash, TDR, FSI or developed land.
