Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 333 development projects valued at more than INR 510 crore in Rajnandgaon district, while reiterating the state government's focus on farmer welfare, rural development and public service delivery. Addressing a gathering of progressive farmers, the Chief Minister highlighted measures aimed at crop diversification, agricultural support and governance reforms. He announced that farmers shifting from paddy cultivation to pulses, oilseeds and other crops under the Krishak Unnati Yojana would receive input assistance of INR 15,000 per acre from the kharif 2026 season. The event also saw the signing of an agreement for soybean procurement from local farmers and recognition of agricultural extension workers and progressive cultivators.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on 22 June inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 333 development projects worth more than INR 510 crore in Rajnandgaon district, underscoring the state government's emphasis on agricultural development, rural infrastructure and citizen-focused governance.
Addressing a progressive farmers' gathering at the State High School ground in Rajnandgaon, Sai stated that farmer prosperity, village development and improved public services remain the administration's primary priorities. He said the government has been implementing commitments made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guarantees through various development and governance initiatives across the state.
The Chief Minister noted that Rajnandgaon has made notable progress in crop diversification and water conservation efforts, emerging as a district that is encouraging farmers to adopt alternative cultivation practices beyond traditional paddy farming. According to him, cultivators have increasingly taken up pulses, oilseeds and other remunerative crops, generating positive outcomes for agricultural productivity and income generation.
To further promote diversification, Sai announced that under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, farmers opting to cultivate pulses, oilseeds or other crops instead of paddy from the kharif 2026 season will receive input assistance of INR 15,000 per acre. The scheme is intended to encourage crop diversification while supporting farm incomes.
The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing agricultural support programmes, including the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, procurement of paddy at the minimum support price and benefits provided through the Krishak Unnati Yojana. He stated that these initiatives have contributed to strengthening the financial security of farmers across the state.
Sai further assured cultivators that the government remains committed to ensuring the timely availability of fertilisers and seeds. He said agricultural development continues to be a key component of the state's broader economic strategy.
Alongside agriculture-focused measures, the Chief Minister outlined several governance reforms aimed at improving public service delivery. He referred to the recently launched Chief Minister Helpline 1076, which allows citizens to register complaints and seek time-bound grievance redressal. He also noted that more than 400 services, including the issuance of income, caste and residence certificates, are now available online through the state's e-District platform.
The Chief Minister highlighted welfare schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana and the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which seeks to reduce household electricity expenses through rooftop solar installations. He encouraged residents to adopt rooftop solar systems and utilise the benefits available under the central government programme.
During the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Rajnandgaon district administration and ABIS Exports for the procurement of soybean produced by local farmers. Progressive farmers, krishi sakhis, sarpanches and rural agriculture extension officers were also honoured for their contributions to agricultural development.
State Assembly Speaker Raman Singh attended the programme alongside government officials and representatives from the agriculture sector. The Chief Minister stated that the government's objective extends beyond infrastructure creation to ensuring that welfare schemes and development benefits reach households across the state through improved access to housing, electricity, drinking water, roads and digital services.
