The Uttar Pradesh government has signed a MoA with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to launch the second phase of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Urban) (PMAY-U 2.0). This phase aims to build 1 crore permanent homes for urban families, addressing the growing housing demand, especially for economically disadvantaged groups. In line with a court order dated 9th October (PIL No. 155/2021), Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is launching a special campaign from 25th November to 4th December 2024 to remove unauthorized banners and hoardings across its jurisdiction. Violations, including expired permissions, will result in penalties and removal costs recovered from offenders. Citizens are warned against erecting unauthorized banners, as legal action will follow under the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1995. Suggestions or complaints can be submitted through NMMC offices, the Grievance Redressal Portal, My NMMC app, or WhatsApp. Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde urges public cooperation.Read more

The Tamil Nadu government has changed its building rules to allow taller industrial buildings in Transit-Oriented Development (ToD areas). The Telangana government has approved the construction of 4,696 Indiramma houses for families displaced by the Mid Manair Reservoir project. Each beneficiary will receive INR 5 lakh under the Indiramma Indlu scheme to build permanent homes. Of the 10,683 families displaced, 5,987 have already built houses, while the remaining families appealed for assistance, prompting the state's approval through GO Ms 42. Additionally, 863 housing units were sanctioned for families affected by the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, with eligibility criteria relaxed to prioritize these families. The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has made significant progress in seeking justice for investors defrauded by Shine City Group. A special court in Lucknow recently issued an order, inviting victims with legitimate claims on Shine City properties to present evidence for property restitution. The ED's investigation, stemming from 554 FIRs filed by UP police, uncovered a Ponzi scheme disguised as real estate investments. The funds were laundered and used to acquire assets, leading to the attachment of properties worth INR 263.55 crore. The ED has filed five Prosecution Complaints (PCs) against multiple entities, with steps now being taken to return assets to rightful claimants.Read more

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued a notice to RIICO Limited, Bikaner, for allegedly violating environmental regulations in the Karni Industrial Area expansion project.
