The Telangana government has approved the construction of 4,696 Indiramma houses for families displaced by the Mid Manair Reservoir project. Each beneficiary will receive INR 5 lakh under the Indiramma Indlu scheme to build permanent homes. Of the 10,683 families displaced, 5,987 have already built houses, while the remaining families appealed for assistance, prompting the state's approval through GO Ms 42. According to the Rajanna Siricilla district administration, a total of 10,683 families were displaced by the Mid Manair project, and as part of the relief and rehabilitation (R&R) package, these families were allocated house sites across 12 villages, including several hamlets. Of the 10,683 displaced families, 5,987 have already constructed their homes, while the remaining 4,696 families appealed to the government for the sanctioning of houses under the Indiramma Indlu scheme. The district collector forwarded the request to the Telangana Housing Corporation Limited, which, after due process, submitted it to the government for approval.
Upon reviewing the proposal, the state government issued GO Ms 42, officially sanctioning the construction of houses for these families. This move aligns with the government's commitment to providing adequate housing for all those displaced by developmental projects.
The state government also sanctioned 863 Indiramma housing units for families who lost their land due to the establishment of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal. These units are being provided to the affected families from the state's reserve quota, with the government making a significant policy adjustment by relaxing the eligibility criteria of the Indiramma Indlu scheme to ensure these families are given priority in the housing allocation process.
