The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has approved an INR 334.89-crore internal flyover at Visakhapatnam Port Authority to improve cargo evacuation and reduce congestion within the port premises. The 3.584-km elevated corridor will connect Convent Junction with the Dock Area and separate road traffic from rail movement. The project is intended to address delays caused by frequent closures at nine railway level crossings, where gates close around 18 times a day due to train movements. The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the redevelopment of the Velampeta slum in Visakhapatnam under the Visakhapatnam Economic Region programme, clearing the way for the state’s first major integrated in-situ slum redevelopment project under the initiative. The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation will implement the project on a Design, Build, Finance and Transfer basis, with 177 housing units planned on a 1,986.45 sq m site. Patna Police have arrested builder Bhushan Singh in connection with five alleged cheating cases involving property transactions worth more than INR 5 crore. Singh, associated with Green Housing Society, is accused of accepting payments from multiple people after promising to provide land but allegedly failing to complete the transactions or return the money. The cases were registered at Shri Krishnapuri police station following separate complaints. Police said Singh had been asked several times to join the investigation but did not cooperate, leading investigators to obtain an arrest warrant from the court.Read more
