Property tax payments in Bengaluru have slowed as apartment residents face confusion over newly introduced solid waste management (SWM) charges. Bulk waste generators must submit detailed data to claim exemptions, but most housing societies do not track daily waste generation. The lack of clarity on the civic portal, uncertainty over vendor approvals, and fear of penalties for incorrect entries have delayed compliance. Residents have also questioned high charges and unclear responsibility between flat owners and associations, highlighting gaps in implementation and coordination.Read more

Bengaluru is witnessing a slowdown in A-khata approvals, with only a small fraction of applications cleared despite a large base of eligible properties. Out of over 8,300 applications filed since the conversion process opened, just around 800 approvals have been granted, highlighting systemic bottlenecks. Missing documentation, including approved layout plans and access records, has emerged as a key hurdle, while high conversion charges linked to guidance value have deterred applicants. The issue affects an estimated 8.2 lakh B-khata properties awaiting regularisation. The delays continue to impact property transactions, financing and development activity, underlining structural challenges in Bengaluru's property record framework.Read more

Real estate developers in Ludhiana have raised concerns over the rapid proliferation of illegal colonies, urging authorities to take stricter enforcement action to curb unregulated development. Industry stakeholders indicated that such colonies, often developed on agricultural land without approvals, are undermining compliant developers and eroding government revenues. They also flagged the absence of basic infrastructure and legal protections for buyers in these projects. The issue has gained urgency amid continued expansion of unauthorised layouts across the city, despite periodic demolition drives and FIRs against violators. Developers have called for early-stage intervention, tighter monitoring of land-use changes and stricter penalties to prevent further unplanned urban growth.Read more
