Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed government departments and infrastructure agencies to complete major ongoing projects within the next three years. The directive covers transport, urban infrastructure and public works projects across the state, including the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. During a recent review meeting, the Chief Minister stressed timely execution, stronger inter-agency coordination and quicker resolution of administrative hurdles. The state government will adopt regular monitoring mechanisms to track progress and ensure project delivery within deadlines.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed government departments and infrastructure agencies to complete all major ongoing infrastructure projects within the next three years, stressing the need for faster execution, improved coordination and strict adherence to project timelines. The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting held in the past week with senior officials and representatives of various government agencies responsible for infrastructure development across the state.
The review focused on a range of ongoing projects, including transport networks, urban infrastructure, public works and other strategic developments that are currently under implementation. According to officials, the Chief Minister instructed departments to identify bottlenecks affecting project delivery and take immediate steps to ensure timely completion.
The meeting was attended by representatives from multiple state agencies involved in infrastructure development, particularly projects within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and other key urban centres. Discussions covered construction progress, land acquisition issues, utility shifting, environmental clearances and administrative approvals that often contribute to delays in project execution.
Fadnavis emphasised the importance of coordination among departments and implementing authorities, noting that infrastructure projects frequently involve multiple agencies and approvals. Officials indicated that departments were asked to work collaboratively to resolve pending issues and prevent delays arising from procedural hurdles.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the status of major transport and mobility projects intended to improve connectivity and support economic activity. These include road, rail and urban transport initiatives that are expected to play a significant role in accommodating population growth and increasing travel demand across the state.
Authorities stated that regular monitoring mechanisms will be strengthened to track progress and ensure accountability among implementing agencies. Project milestones, timelines and performance indicators are expected to be reviewed periodically so that corrective measures can be taken whenever required.
The state government has been focusing on accelerating infrastructure investment across Maharashtra, with several large-scale projects currently under development in sectors such as transportation, urban development, housing and public utilities. Officials said timely completion remains a priority because delays often lead to cost escalations and prolonged inconvenience for citizens.
The review meeting also addressed the need to streamline approval processes and improve communication between departments responsible for planning, execution and regulation. Agencies were directed to adopt a solution-oriented approach and ensure that projects move forward without unnecessary interruptions.
Government officials indicated that the three-year target is intended to provide a clear framework for completing critical infrastructure works that are currently underway. The administration believes that timely delivery of these projects will help improve mobility, public services and overall infrastructure capacity across Maharashtra.
The latest directive reflects the state's broader effort to enhance project execution standards and ensure that infrastructure investments translate into completed assets within defined timelines. Departments are expected to submit regular progress reports as part of the monitoring process over the coming months.
