Waaree Energies Ltd has commenced operations at a battery energy storage system (BESS) container manufacturing facility in Gujarat through its subsidiary, Waaree Energy Storage Solutions Pvt Ltd. The facility has an annual manufacturing capacity of 5.15 GWh, an increase from the originally planned 3.5 GWh, following improvements in production throughput and battery cell energy density. The company also outlined plans to expand its BESS container manufacturing capacity to 20 GWh over time. The Rampur Development Authority (RDA) has ordered the demolition of 38 out of 40 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, after determining that the structures were constructed without approved building plans. The order, issued under Section 27(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973, follows a hearing in which the university's explanation was rejected. Authorities have given the university management 15 days to voluntarily remove the allegedly unauthorised buildings, failing which the RDA will carry out the demolition. Officials said only two buildings on the campus had sanctioned plans obtained from the erstwhile district panchayat. The action forms part of the state's ongoing enforcement against unauthorised constructions and follows the university campus coming under the jurisdiction of the Rampur Development Authority in 2024.Read more

• NHAI has opened the 29.96-km Vadipatti–Thamaraipatti section of the Madurai Ring Road (NH-744A), developed at a cost of INR 1,024.66 crore, to improve regional connectivity and decongest Madurai city.
• The four-lane bypass connects NH-44 and NH-38, diverting heavy commercial traffic away from the city and significantly reducing travel time, fuel consumption and vehicle operating costs.
• The corridor features flyovers, major and minor bridges, underpasses, service roads, a wildlife overpass and an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) to enhance road safety and ensure smooth traffic flow.

The Uttar Pradesh government has opened the INR 4,500 crore Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities to 35-45 minutes from nearly two hours. Developed as a high-speed greenfield corridor, the expressway is expected to improve passenger and freight movement, strengthen industrial connectivity and support economic growth across central Uttar Pradesh. Construction of Dholera International Airport in Gujarat is around 80% complete, with the facility expected to become operational by October this year, according to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu. During a review of the project, the minister said the runway, taxiway, Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower and ancillary infrastructure have been fully completed, while work on the passenger terminal has reached 75%. The airport, being developed as part of the Dholera Special Investment Region, will feature a 25,000 sq m passenger terminal capable of handling 2 million passengers annually and a dedicated cargo terminal. The project is integrated with planned industrial, semiconductor and transport infrastructure, including a high-speed rail corridor, and is intended to support manufacturing, logistics, aerospace and aviation-related investments in the region.Read more
