Ranchi is planning to install high-speed traffic cameras at around 40 accident-prone locations across the city to improve road safety and curb traffic violations. The proposed project, estimated to cost over INR 5 crore, is currently at a preliminary stage, with authorities finalising locations such as major flyovers, Ring Road stretches and busy corridors. The move will expand the existing surveillance network, which covers about 10 key junctions. The cameras will automatically detect overspeeding and signal violations, enabling real-time challan generation and reducing manual enforcement.
