A new smart city bus terminus in Belagavi has become fully operational after overcoming delays in formal handover procedures. The bus terminus is equipped with contemporary amenities aimed at improving passenger comfort and operational efficiency. Features include well-planned boarding and alighting bays, sheltered waiting areas, digital information displays, enhanced sanitation facilities and dedicated spaces for passenger services. By centralising bus operations in a purpose-built interchange, city planners expect smoother traffic flows around the surrounding arterial roads and reduced roadside congestion.
Local transport officials have highlighted that the delay in formal handover had briefly stalled full utilisation of the terminus, but coordination between project authorities and the municipal corporation has now facilitated a seamless transition to operational status. With the facility now in use, multiple intra-city and inter-city bus services are being routed through the terminus, bringing improved connectivity to commuters across Belagavi and neighbouring regions.
