The Goa government has notified 1.03 crore sq m of ecologically sensitive land across seven villages in South Goa's Salcete taluka as a No Development Zone (NDZ) under the Regional Plan. The Chhattisgarh Forest Department has initiated an inquiry into the alleged felling of more than 500 trees for the construction of a 1.34-km haul road linked to the Rowghat iron ore mine in Kanker district.
