A Mumbai special court has discharged Dewan Housing Finance Corp Ltd from a money-laundering case of around INR 5,050 crore, citing statutory immunity under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code after its resolution and change in management. The court held that once a resolution plan is approved, the corporate debtor cannot be prosecuted for pre-insolvency offences. However, the protection does not extend to former promoters or officials.
