NMMC conducts major cleaning drive on Sion–Panvel Highway to curb dust pollution

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation carried out an intensive road-cleaning drive on the busy Sion-Panvel Highway as part of its ongoing efforts to improve air quality and reduce road dust. The campaign focused on deep cleaning of carriageways and footpaths using mechanised brushing, removal of accumulated soil and washing of roads with treated water through jetting spray systems. Alongside the highway stretch from Vashi to Belapur, several major internal roads across the city were also covered. CIDCO achieves first tunnel breakthrough in Hetawane water project in Navi Mumbai

City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has achieved its first-ever tunnel breakthrough in the Hetawane Water Supply Scheme at Shaft 4 in Wahal village, Navi Mumbai. Executed by Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, 5.52 km of the 8.7 km treated water tunnel under Package 1 is completed, overcoming geological and operational challenges. The scheme, including 13.25 km of raw water and 15.4 km of treated water tunnels, aims to raise the city's water capacity from 150 million litres per day (MLD) to 270 MLD. "Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train completes first mountain tunnel "

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project marked a major construction milestone with the completion of Mountain Tunnel 5 (MT 5) in Palghar district, Maharashtra. Spanning 1.5 km between Virar and Boisar stations, it is the first mountain tunnel on the 508 km corridor. This breakthrough clears almost the entire alignment between Thane and Ahmedabad, leaving only the Mumbai-Thane undersea stretch pending. The corridor will feature 12 stations and three depots, with trains running at speeds of 320 kmph, reducing travel time to about 2 hours 17 minutes. Mumbai Railways approves Badlapur–Karjat quadrupling project under MUTP 3B

Spanning 32.46 km and covering six stations, the project is estimated at INR 1,324 crore, with funding shared equally between the Railways ministry and the state government.
