Synopsis

IndiGo has strengthened air connectivity from Puducherry by operating 14 flights per week to Bengaluru and Hyderabad, completing one year of scheduled services from the Union Territory. The airline began these operations in December 2024 to address long-standing connectivity gaps. Regular services have eased travel for residents seeking specialised healthcare, higher education, and business opportunities in larger cities. The improved links have also enabled smoother onward domestic and international connections, reducing dependence on neighbouring airports and improving overall accessibility for Puducherry.

IndiGo has reinforced air connectivity in Puducherry by operating 14 flights every week to Bengaluru and Hyderabad, marking one year since the airline commenced scheduled services from the Union Territory. The routes were introduced in December 2024 with the aim of improving direct access to major urban centres, which were earlier reachable mainly through road travel to nearby airports.

According to the airline, these connections have made travel significantly easier for Puducherry residents, particularly those requiring specialised medical treatment or pursuing higher education in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The services have also improved access to IndiGo's wider domestic and international network, enabling more seamless onward travel.

The introduction of regular flights has helped bridge a long-standing gap in Puducherry's air connectivity. Prior to these services, limited flight options often resulted in longer travel times and higher dependence on Chennai Airport. Over the past year, the steady schedule has provided a reliable alternative for professionals, students, tourists, and government officials.

IndiGo's continued operations reflect a broader focus on strengthening regional connectivity by linking smaller cities directly with key aviation hubs. The airline currently remains the primary operator offering consistent scheduled services from Puducherry, supporting both mobility needs and the region's integration with major economic centres.
