The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has approved an INR 334.89 crore internal flyover project at Visakhapatnam Port Authority to improve cargo evacuation and reduce congestion within the port premises. The proposed 3.584-km elevated corridor will connect Convent Junction with the Dock Area and separate road traffic from rail movement. The project is intended to address delays caused by nine railway level crossings, which currently experience around 18 gate closures a day. Construction is planned to minimise disruption to port operations, with the project scheduled for completion within 30 months of commencement.Read more
