The Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) is a key infrastructure project aimed at improving east-west connectivity in Mumbai. Spanning 12.2 km and costing INR 10,100-14,000 crore, the project is set for completion by 2028, reducing travel time between Goregaon and Mulund from 75-90 minutes to just 15-25 minutes. Featuring twin tunnels and advanced Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), GMLR will enhance connectivity while minimizing environmental impact. Real estate experts predict a rise in property demand in Mulund and surrounding areas, driven by improved accessibility to business hubs in the western suburbs. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered the establishment of a new legal committee to settle pending issues regarding Emaar Properties. This action comes after several years of court conflicts over the company's contracts with the Andhra Pradesh government in 2001 for Hyderabad-based large-scale projects. There have been allegations of irregularities in these transactions that prompted CBI and ED probes, with court cases still pending. In an attempt to resolve the issue, the Chief Minister has sanctioned Emaar's proposal to establish a legal agency with the sanction of the UAE government. The new committee will operate in collaboration with this agency to seek legal remedies. Earlier government attempts, such as a 2015 committee established by the BRS government and suggestions from national and international authorities, will also influence the ultimate decision.Read more

The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) will publish builder payment records for Cauvery water connections in response to complaints from apartment residents. Many builders collected charges from buyers but failed to pay BWSSB, leaving homebuyers without promised connections. The board's website will list compliant and defaulting builders, allowing homeowners to verify payments. BWSSB will mediate settlements, but buyers can take legal action if builders refuse to pay. Additionally, a three-member panel has been formed to address complaints against overcharging plumbers. These steps aim to enhance transparency and accountability in Bengaluru's real estate and water supply sectors.Read more

The Gujarat High Court has dismissed contempt petitions by dissenting members of Swami Vivekanandnagar Cooperative Housing Society in Vejalpur, imposing a INR 10,000 fine for filing frivolous claims aimed at obstructing redevelopment. The court ruled that allegations of inducement and misrepresentation lacked merit, reaffirming earlier decisions favoring redevelopment. With 93% of residents supporting the project, the court directed the dissenting members to vacate their flats. Citing legal precedents, the ruling reinforces that majority-backed redevelopment cannot be stalled without proving fraud. This decision removes the final legal hurdle, allowing the project to proceed for the society's collective benefit.Read more

The Uttarakhand High Court has instructed the state government to file a rehabilitation plan in a week after slum habitats were demolished to widen a road between Haldwani and Kathgodam. The court issued the directive on a public interest petition protesting the absence of prior notice for the eviction. The petitioner claimed that the demolition had breached Supreme Court rules mandating a 15-day notice period. The case is reminiscent of previous cases of evictions by force throughout India, such as the Haldwani railway land case, demolitions in Delhi slums, and recent Supreme Court actions against arbitrary demolitions. The court has called on authorities to take the extreme weather conditions into account and provide temporary shelter for the residents displaced. The next hearing is on March 4.Read more
