Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has announced that land ownership rights for nearly 40,000 Bengali families in Gadchiroli will be expedited. Descendants of refugees from East Pakistan, these families have faced decades-long delays in securing legal ownership. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) carried out a demolition drive in Gomtinagar Extension, removing around 18 illegal constructions on land acquired in 2000 under the Amar Shaheed Path-Gomtinagar Extension scheme.
