The Central Government has resolved to develop Belgaria Township in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, into a model township to rehabilitate families displaced by underground coal-mine fires and land subsidence. As many as 1.4 lakh families remain in hazardous zones, but only about 4,000 have been relocated so far. The proposed model township will deliver essential services: water, electricity, security, livelihood opportunities and civic infrastructure. The plan has been reinforced under the revamped Revised Jharia Master Plan (JMP) - backed by a ?5,940.47 crore budget - which envisages sustained rehabilitation, safe relocation, community services and long-term livelihood support for affected residents.Read more

Goa's town-planning authorities have decided to extend their digital Building Plan Approval Management System (BPAMS) to cover small residential projects comprising up to four apartments. The change, coming into effect earlier this week, shifts such projects from manual scrutiny to mandatory online submission, including applications for technical clearances and completion orders. The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in Mumbai, earlier this past week, dismissed the INR 1,080 crore bid submitted by Brookfield-backed Chronos Properties for acquiring IL&FS's flagship Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) property. The tribunal upheld IL&FS's contractual authority to revise the consideration under the court-approved resolution framework, accepting the company's move to increase the valuation to INR 1,481 crore. The Odisha government has instructed district collectors to speed up the allocation of house-sites to landless families eligible under rural housing schemes.
