Haryana pushes speedy allotment of plots and houses to poor families in Panchkula

09 Dec 2025

Haryana's urban local bodies minister has directed officials in Panchkula to fast-track the allotment of residential plots and houses to poor families, reviving stalled work under state housing schemes. The municipal commissioner has been asked to clear pending cases, resolve procedural delays and ensure timely possession for eligible beneficiaries. The push follows earlier rounds in which thousands received plot-allotment letters and interim ownership certificates, though many units remained unallotted due to administrative backlogs. The directive stresses transparency, accountability and quick verification of documents, underscoring the government's broader goal of providing permanent, legally owned homes to underprivileged families as part of its housing-welfare commitments.Read more

Tamil Nadu to map entire state with high-resolution satellite imagery for land reforms

07 Dec 2025

Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Survey and Settlement has invited proposals for high-resolution satellite imagery covering about 1.3 lakh sq km, aiming to modernise the state's land-record system. The 30-cm imagery will be integrated into the Tamil Nadu GIS platform, enabling a shift from traditional 2D maps to precise geospatial maps with latitude-longitude accuracy. Officials say this will reduce boundary disputes, improve urban mapping and support faster patta transfers, subdivision approvals, and land-use reclassification. It will also help detect encroachments and strengthen planning, environmental monitoring and disaster management. The initiative complements Tamil Nadu's recent push to digitise land administration and provide easier online access to land records.Read more
