The third Thane Creek Bridge (TCB-3), a vital 1.8-km six-lane link between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, is now complete and awaits final approval for inauguration. Executed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation at a cost of INR 850 crore, the bridge aims to ease traffic on the heavily congested Sion-Panvel highway, which sees over 1.3 lakh vehicles daily. Civil work finished in April, but the opening is pending clearance from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Road Transport. Once inaugurated, TCB-3 is expected to significantly reduce commute times and enhance regional connectivity between the two growing urban centres.Read more

The Uttan-Virar Sea Link (UVSL) Phase-1, spearheaded by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), is progressing rapidly with a revised layout that promises to revolutionise northern Mumbai's infrastructure. Originally conceptualised as the Versova-Virar Sea Link, the project was reorganised into phases after being handed over from MSRDC to MMRDA in late 2022. Maharashtra has become the first state in India to register over 50,000 housing projects with the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA), which recently entered its 9th year. The state accounts for roughly 35% of India's total housing projects, with key districts like Pune, Thane, and Mumbai registering significant numbers. While Tamil Nadu and Gujarat follow, their numbers are far lower, with 27,609 and 15,322 projects, respectively. Himachal Pradesh has secured approval for the construction of 3,123 kilometres of rural roads and 43 bridges under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III, with a total cost of INR 3,345.81 crore. The state's Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, revealed that the expenditure under PMGSY for 2024-25 exceeded the allocated INR 650 crore, reaching INR 905 crore. As a result, the state has requested the Central Government to increase the allocation to INR 1,300 crore for the 2025-26 financial year. Efforts on PMGSY-IV are also progressing, with 1,115 habitations deemed eligible for development.Read more

Delhi airport's runway RW 28/10, which was temporarily closed for maintenance, resumed operations earlier this week. The closure, initially intended for a longer duration to upgrade the Instrument Landing System (ILS), caused disruptions due to congestion and adverse weather conditions. As a result, the maintenance work has been paused, with plans to resume in mid-June. The airport authority, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), expressed confidence that the runway's reopening would streamline operations and improve passenger experience. Bokaro is undergoing a major transformation in 2025 with infrastructure investments exceeding INR 20,000 crore.
