The Maharashtra state registration department is intensifying efforts to promote its online property registration system for first-sale properties conducted from developers' offices. Launched two years ago, the initiative aims to streamline the registration process and reduce footfall at registration offices. So far, 300 developers have participated, with over 7,000 property documents registered in the past year. To boost adoption, the department has provided training to over 500 developers and expects another 300 to join soon. MahaRERA has instructed Lokhandwala-Kataria Construction, the promoter of the Minerva project in Lower Parel, to compensate a homebuyer for delayed possession of two flats. The interest, calculated from January 2022 until possession with an Occupation Certificate (OC), will be at SBI's Marginal Cost Lending Rate (MCLR) plus 26 basis points. Additionally, the promoter must release the mortgage on the flats before handing over possession. The complaint highlighted discrepancies in project disclosures and significant delays beyond the promised possession date of December 2020. Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, has instructed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to extend the single-window special camps for the PM-UDAY scheme until March 2025. The Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) has ordered a builder to halt further bookings for a mega housing-cum-commercial project in Phulnakhara, Bhubaneswar, due to repeated violations of its registration conditions. The authority also directed the builder to stop collecting additional funds, obtain occupancy certificates for completed units, and register the sale deeds for already-sold units. The builder, who initially received ORERA approval in 2019 and 2021 for 1,626 residential and 571 commercial units, revised the building plan in 2024, increasing the total units but failing to meet compliance requirements. The Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has exposed a land fraud case involving 4.5788 hectares of land valued at INR 1.69 billion in Panki Gangeganj. A 48-year-old doctor in Thane has reportedly been defrauded of INR 70 lakh by three individuals in a property scam.
