The Centre has approved more than 1.11 crore homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with a significant share already delivered to beneficiaries. Nearly 1.10 crore homes have been grounded and about 95.54 lakh have been completed. A 2020 survey showed that around 6.5 crore people continue to live in slums across India. Most of the INR 2.05 lakh crore central assistance sanctioned for these schemes has already been released and utilised.Read more

Authorities in Alwar have shut down ten hotels and resorts operating illegally around Siliserh Lake, citing the absence of mandatory permissions and environmental clearances. The sealed establishments did not meet zoning norms or hold valid hotel licences, prompting a strict enforcement drive to protect the lake's ecological sensitivity. Officials said unchecked construction and unauthorised tourism activity had raised serious concerns over land use and environmental impact. The action signals a firm stance that commercial development cannot bypass planning regulations or ecological safeguards, and is expected to deter future violations while reinforcing the need for full compliance among hospitality operators in sensitive zones.Read more

India's infrastructure sector, spanning power, roads, metro systems, ports, and dams, is facing increasing disputes. A Supreme Court judge stressed that resolving disputes only at the end delays projects, and stage-wise resolution through institutional arbitration is more effective. He highlighted the need for better contract drafting, technical expertise, and structured case management. The Attorney General called for dedicated construction-sector legislation. A white paper launched at the conference recommends adopting global best practices and technology-driven systems to enhance clarity, predictability, and efficiency in dispute resolution.Read more

Maharashtra has given legal validity to digitally signed land records, including 7/12 extracts, 8-A extracts and property cards. Citizens can now download certified copies from the Mahabhumi portal for INR 15, and these copies will carry a digital signature, QR code and a unique 16-digit verification number. All government departments, courts, banks and registration offices have been instructed to accept these digital records for official work. The move replaces the need for physical signatures, reduces paperwork and helps curb tampering and delays in land-related processes.Read more

The Maharashtra government has cleared the Mukhya Mantri Baliraja Shet-Panand Raste Yojana to develop all-weather, motorable farm-to-field roads across rural districts. The programme shifts fully to mechanised construction to avoid delays seen earlier under manual work through MGNREGA. It also includes waivers on survey fees, measurement charges, police bandobast, and royalty on soil, sand, murum and stones. Roads will be built through cluster-based tendering, paired with mandatory tree plantation. A high-level committee will oversee the implementation across districts to improve year-round connectivity for farmers.Read more

Karnataka RERA has launched a unified single-window clearance system to streamline and speed up approvals for real estate projects across the state. The move is designed to reduce delays, cut bureaucratic hurdles and improve transparency in the approval process. By centralising clearances, Karnataka RERA aims to provide developers with greater certainty and enable quicker project launches. Homebuyers are expected to benefit from faster delivery timelines, while regulators gain better coordination, oversight and accountability.Read more

The Supreme Court has raised concerns over a surge in real estate disputes in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai, pointing out that thousands of homebuyers are affected by delayed possession and unresolved redevelopment cases. Major developers such as Unitech, Amrapali, Jaypee, and Supertech are among those involved in litigation. It urged builders to address the causes of these conflicts and improve project delivery and transparency.Read more

The Himachal Pradesh Assembly has sent the Tenancy and Land Reforms (Amendment) Bill, 2025, to a Select Committee for scrutiny. The Bill proposes allowing rural houses to be leased for ten years and exempts certain sales from prior permission under Section 118 of the 1972 Act. While the government says the amendments aim to simplify processes and promote development, opposition parties warn that they could weaken protections for local farmers, agricultural land, and forest areas. The committee's review will shape the Bill's future.Read more

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy recently clarified that it has not asked financial institutions to stop lending to renewable energy projects or equipment manufacturers. The clarification came after reports suggested otherwise amid discussions around solar sector overcapacity. The ministry shared that it has only circulated information about current domestic solar PV manufacturing capacities to lenders so they can assess financing proposals more carefully. India has been expanding its renewable energy base rapidly and has already reached 50 per cent of its installed power capacity from non-fossil sources, supported by major policy initiatives and manufacturing incentives.Read more

Haryana's urban local bodies minister has directed officials in Panchkula to fast-track the allotment of residential plots and houses to poor families, reviving stalled work under state housing schemes. The municipal commissioner has been asked to clear pending cases, resolve procedural delays and ensure timely possession for eligible beneficiaries. The push follows earlier rounds in which thousands received plot-allotment letters and interim ownership certificates, though many units remained unallotted due to administrative backlogs. The directive stresses transparency, accountability and quick verification of documents, underscoring the government's broader goal of providing permanent, legally owned homes to underprivileged families as part of its housing-welfare commitments.Read more
