China's top state banks are playing a crucial role in financing Aramco's Jafurah shale gas project, lending over a third of the total funds, while Chinese sovereign and private funds opted out due to U.S.-China trade tensions, Reuters reported. Bank of China, ICBC, and China Construction Bank each lent about USD 1 billion, with Agricultural Bank of China adding roughly USD 750 million. In August, Aramco signed an USD 11 billion lease-and-leaseback deal for processing assets with a consortium led by BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners, joined by Mubadala and Lunate. India's logistics costs have been officially pegged at 7.97% of GDP for 2023-24, marking the first structured estimate under a national framework developed by NCAER. The figure shows steady improvement from 8.84% in 2022-23 and 8.79% in 2021-22, countering earlier inconsistent estimates of 13-14% cited from external sources. The study, guided by the Asian Development Bank, will now be repeated biennially and shared with other nations as a model. Sector-wise, agriculture, mining, and manufacturing costs fell to 9.09%, while mode-wise coastal shipping remained cheapest at INR 1.80 per tonne-km. India has now narrowed its gap with developed economies, moving closer to the government's 6% target.Read more

The government has rolled out an upgraded version of its logistics data bank, allowing real-time tracking of export containers at sea and domestic trucks on road and rail networks. Developed by NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDSL), the system integrates multiple transport modes, providing a live container heatmap and multi-modal visibility. Officials say this will improve supply chain efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and enhance India's competitiveness in global trade.
