Sultanpur National Park to get real-time geofence alerts to curb illegal activity

27 Nov 2025

Authorities are setting up a digital geofencing system to regulate activity around the eco-sensitive zone of Sultanpur National Park. The area is being mapped into five concentric rings, each with specific restrictions on construction, industry and land use. HARSAC is developing a real-time dashboard that will alert enforcement teams to any violations, reducing past disputes caused by unclear boundaries. Key curbs include a construction ban within 300 metres, limits on building heights up to 500 metres, and prohibitions on commercial structures, polluting industries, mining and glass-facade buildings within designated distances. Additional rules cover noise, tourism, waste burning and plastic use, aiming to protect the wetland ecosystem and migratory bird habitat.Read more

GRAP Stage-3 curbs revoked in Delhi-NCR as air quality shows slight improvement

27 Nov 2025

CAQM has lifted Stage-3 GRAP restrictions in Delhi-NCR following a slight improvement in air quality, with the 24 hour AQI at 327. Construction, demolition, and older diesel vehicle bans have been eased, and offices and schools can resume full operations. Stage-1 and Stage-2 measures remain active to sustain the modest gains and prevent pollution spikes. The decision was based on data from IMD and IITM forecasting favorable meteorological conditions. Authorities stress the need for vigilance, as seasonal and structural pollution factors continue to challenge air quality management.Read more

MNRE asks CERC to review draft rules that could slow investment in renewables

27 Nov 2025

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has asked the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) to revisit its draft rules for wind and solar projects under the Deviation Settlement Mechanism, as the proposed norms may discourage new investments. The draft framework, scheduled for implementation in April 2026, seeks to narrow the gap between committed and actual power generation. With India targeting 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, experts believe the sector must add around 50 GW annually. Concerns have also grown over nearly 40 GW of projects awaiting power sale agreements, which are essential for financing.Read more

Heavy vehicles banned during peak hours on Mandwa-Alibag road to improve safety

27 Nov 2025

Raigad district authorities have imposed a time-bound ban on heavy vehicles along the Mandwa Jetty-Alibag coastal road to reduce accidents and ease congestion. The restriction applies daily from 8 am-12 pm and 4 pm-8 pm, with exemptions for essential goods carriers and emergency vehicles. The narrow road, frequented by tourists and construction vehicles, has seen rising accidents. Weekend congestion and ferry traffic from Mumbai have worsened safety risks. Officials expect the move to improve road safety for students, local commuters, and tourists while easing traffic flow.Read more

Centre widens Delhi's TOD zone to 500 metres along Metro and RRTS corridors

27 Nov 2025

The Central Government has amended the Delhi Development Authority's Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) policy, expanding the definition of the 'TOD Zone' through a gazette notification issued earlier this week. The revised zone will now cover a 500-metre corridor on both sides of existing and planned Metro routes, as well as around major transit hubs such as RRTS stations. This marks a broader catchment than earlier provisions and is intended to support integrated urban development with residential, commercial and mixed-use projects near transit. The change modifies Chapter 20 of the Master Plan for Delhi-2021, with the DDA inviting public objections or suggestions within 45 days of the notice.Read more

CM points to infrastructure gaps as Delhi plans new health centres and urban upgrades

27 Nov 2025

Delhi Chief Minister Shrimati Rekha Gupta highlighted persistent gaps in the city's civic infrastructure, noting that many areas still lack water pipelines and sewer connections even after decades of governance under previous administrations. She said residents continue to depend on water tankers and that key pipelines are being desilted only now, despite relying on a 1973-era master plan. Gupta criticised legislators for not prioritising core civic issues and urged better planning to use available funds effectively. At the event, she inaugurated 70 new Ayushman Mandirs offering diagnostics, medicines and essential services, and announced upcoming beautification projects, assuring that funding would not hinder Delhi's development goals.Read more

High Court streamlines mutation process by integrating civil decrees into Kaveri 2.0

26 Nov 2025

The Karnataka High Court has issued detailed directions to ensure civil-court decrees are promptly and accurately reflected in the state's land records. A new workflow, 'Mutation based on Civil Court Decree,' has been introduced in Kaveri 2.0, enabling digital authentication of decrees by revenue and registration departments, followed by automatic mutation requests in the Bhoomi platform. Updated entries will also appear in the RTC, including proportional ownership details. For cases involving subdivision, 11-E sketches can now be attached to align boundaries with legal rulings. A joint legal-technical committee will oversee implementation within six months. The move addresses past delays and strengthens Karnataka's broader digital land-governance reforms.Read more

NHRC asked to intervene as stalled apartment law leaves buyers in uncertainty

26 Nov 2025

The Karnataka Home Buyers Forum has approached the NHRC, stating that thousands of residents face risks to their rights due to the state's prolonged delay in notifying a new apartment-ownership law. Despite multiple government communications since March 2023 acknowledging gaps in existing RERA rules and the outdated KOFA Act, the proposed legislation has not been implemented. Departments highlighted issues around registering associations, managing common areas and finalising a new Act, with RERA indicating a draft would be released soon. Until the law is notified, apartment associations cannot take over shared assets, developers remain bound only by temporary norms, and homebuyers continue to face uncertainty.Read more
