The administration in Davanagere district has distributed land title deeds to approximately 12,000 people as part of a recent revenue record conversion exercise, officials said earlier this week. During a ceremony held in Haveri, the Deputy Commissioner announced that 298 residential areas within the district had been formally declared as revenue villages, enabling issuance of the deeds. Davanagere is now ranked second in the state for the number of title deeds issued, reflecting accelerated efforts to update land records and secure legal ownership for residents. Authorities also noted that some beneficiaries were yet to receive their documents, with a distribution deadline set for mid-March, and urged those individuals to contact the local tahsildar's office. The drive forms part of broader land administration reforms aimed at streamlining records, reducing disputes and ensuring clarity of ownership rights for citizens.Read more

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has imposed a regulatory requirement that developers must use premium Floor Space Index (FSI) and Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) in an equal 50:50 ratio for all construction projects governed by the city's 2020 Development Control and Promotion Regulations. The move, directed by municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri, is intended to revitalise waning demand for TDR, stabilise its market value and facilitate the city's acquisition of land earmarked for public amenities and infrastructure. Nashik's basic permissible FSI is 1.10, with additional FSI available through premium FSI and TDR, but heavy reliance on premium FSI had weakened the TDR market in recent years, reducing interest among landowners to surrender land in exchange for TDR. By enforcing parity between the two mechanisms, NMC aims to restore balance in the real estate development regime, address stalled land reservations and reduce the financial burden of cash compensation for land acquisition. Officials believe the equal mix will benefit civic planning, landowners and the realty sector by encouraging use of TDR alongside premium FSI.Read more

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has barred NCC Limited and its step-down subsidiary, O B Infrastructure Limited, from participating in any NHAI tenders for two years. The action relates to disputes over a 2006 build-operate-transfer annuity project in Uttar Pradesh. NCC has said the order will not impact its existing projects or order book but will affect its ability to bid for new NHAI contracts during the restriction period. The company plans to challenge the debarment legally, while its shares fell sharply following the announcement.Read more

India's International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), which oversees the financial hub at GIFT City, has begun urging companies that remain inactive to voluntarily surrender their licences if they do not intend to start operations. This step is aimed at preventing the centre from becoming a registry of paper entities and reinforcing genuine business activity. Some dormant capital market firms have already been approached for licence surrender. The regulator continues to allow flexibility for firms facing legitimate operational delays, while insisting on real presence and activity at the IFSC.Read more

The central government has allocated INR 12,357 crore to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for highway monetisation in the current financial year, lower than the earlier budgeted and revised estimate of INR 15,000 crore. The authority has identified 24 highway stretches covering around 1,472 km for monetisation through models such as Toll-Operate-Transfer (TOT), Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs), and securitisation. The reduction comes even as the ministry had set a higher internal target for asset monetisation, reflecting a calibrated approach to infrastructure funding and private participation.Read more
