The Maharashtra government has approved the allocation of 256 acres of decommissioned salt pan land across Mulund, Kanjurmarg, and Bhandup for the ambitious Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP). These plots, lying unused for nearly a decade, are now set to host affordable housing units as part of one of Mumbai's most significant slum rehabilitation efforts. The Karnataka Housing Board's Heritage Heights project in Kenchalagudu, Mysuru, has received a lukewarm response, with only 52 applicants for 192 flats. The project offers 160 two-BHK units at INR 49.4 lakh and 32 three-BHK units at INR 63 lakh. Due to low demand, the application deadline has been extended from April 2 to May 2. Experts cite buyer preference for individual homes or city-centre apartments as a key reason. Located on Mysuru's outskirts, the project faces challenges despite its affordability and official backing. KHB may need to re-evaluate pricing, location, and promotion strategies to improve uptake for this and future developments.Read more

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has given engineers a three-month deadline to complete pending infrastructure in the Shivaram Karanth Layout in North Bengaluru. Spread across 3,540 acres, the layout is expected to offer over 30,000 plots, but only 10,000-17,000 are currently ready. Key works like roads, water pipelines, and drainage remain incomplete in nearly 40% of the layout. Legal issues and unresolved land acquisition disputes have delayed public site allotment, with a court case still pending. A committee is assessing land values for fair compensation. While public interest remains high, allotments will proceed only after legal and administrative clearances are finalized.Read more

Gujarat's real estate sector saw a 6% rise in new project registrations in FY 2024-25, with 1,823 projects approved, up from 1,713 the previous year, according to GujRERA. The growth was driven by a surge in approvals during the first nine months, as developers anticipated a hike in jantri rates and rushed to avoid increased FSI charges. Surat led with 343 project registrations, followed by Ahmedabad with 550. Vadodara and Rajkot saw slight declines. Despite a slowdown in demand in the year's final quarter, registration momentum held steady. GujRERA is also enhancing compliance efforts to ensure broader market transparency and regulatory adherence.Read more
