The transactions involved 63 lakh shares purchased at an average price of INR 2,275.30 apiece. The stake was sold by promoter entity Welspun Investments and Commercials and CEO Vipul Mathur. Following the deals, Welspun Corp’s shares surged nearly 6% to a 52-week high, while promoter holding declined to 47.46%.

Global and domestic institutional investors have acquired a 2.39% stake in Welspun Corp through multiple block deals worth INR 1,433.44 crore on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The transactions involved the purchase of 63 lakh shares at an average price of INR 2,275.30 apiece, according to exchange data.
US-based Capital Group emerged as the largest buyer in the transaction, with its affiliates acquiring 47,84,526 shares across 14 tranches. The purchase represents a 1.81% stake in the Mumbai-based building materials company. Other investors participating in the deals included Scotland-based Aberdeen Investments, mutual funds managed by Edelweiss and Quant, and Edelweiss Life Insurance Company.
The shares were sold by promoter group entity Welspun Investments and Commercials Ltd, which offloaded 60 lakh shares, equivalent to a 2.27% stake in the company. Welspun Corp's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Vipul Mathur also sold 3 lakh shares at the same transaction price.
Following the sale, Welspun Investments and Commercials' shareholding declined to 0.29% from 2.56%. The combined holding of promoters and promoter-group entities also fell to 47.46% from 49.73%, reflecting the reduction in promoter ownership after the block deals.
The market reacted positively to the transactions. Welspun Corp's shares climbed nearly 6% on Thursday, touching a 52-week high of INR 2,437.30 on the NSE, indicating continued investor interest in the company despite the promoter stake sale.
The block deals come shortly after Welspun Corp announced its largest-ever single order, valued at INR 17,200 crore, for supplying pipes from its manufacturing facility in the United States. The order significantly expanded the company's global order book, which reached a record USD 4.4 billion, or approximately INR 42,100 crore, providing greater revenue visibility for its operations.
The company has also reported strong financial performance in recent months. For the quarter ended June 2026, Welspun Corp posted a consolidated net profit of INR 1,047.88 crore, nearly three times higher than the INR 349.16 crore reported in the corresponding period of the previous year. Total income during the quarter increased to INR 4,144.91 crore from INR 3,586.52 crore a year earlier.
The combination of a record order book, improved earnings and fresh institutional investment has reinforced investor confidence in the company. The participation of large global investors such as Capital Group and Aberdeen Investments, alongside domestic institutional investors, indicates continued interest in Welspun Corp's growth prospects as it executes its expanding pipeline of infrastructure and pipe supply projects across international markets.
