Synopsis

The Centre has approved INR 840.41 crore for upgrading 45.09 km of National Highway-365BB in Andhra Pradesh, covering the Buttaigudem-LND Peta and Pattiseema-Kovvur sections. The road will be developed into a two-lane highway with paved shoulders to improve access to the Polavaram Irrigation Project and surrounding villages. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu thanked Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for the approval. The project is also expected to improve the movement of agricultural produce, strengthen connectivity with Telangana and support tourism and pilgrimage travel along the Godavari region.

The Centre has approved INR 840.41 crore for upgrading two sections of National Highway-365BB in Andhra Pradesh. The project covers a combined 45.09-km stretch between Buttaigudem-LND Peta and Pattiseema-Kovvur, which will be upgraded to a two-lane road with paved shoulders.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu thanked Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the project. He said the upgraded road would improve connectivity to the Polavaram Irrigation Project and help farmers transport tobacco, sugarcane, palm and aquaculture products to markets more efficiently.
Gadkari said the project would improve connectivity to Polavaram and the surrounding villages while making the movement of agricultural produce faster and safer. The region has substantial agricultural activity, and better road infrastructure is expected to strengthen farm-to-market links and support local livelihoods.
The highway upgrade is also expected to improve connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This could support the movement of commuters and goods while improving access for businesses and visitors travelling through the region.
The improved road will provide better access to important bathing ghats along the Godavari River and is expected to help pilgrims and visitors during the Godavari Pushkaralu in 2027. The event is held once every 12 years and is expected to bring increased movement to the region.
The Polavaram Irrigation Project has continued to receive financial support from the Centre. According to a previous government release cited by ETInfra, the Centre reimbursed INR 15,146 crore to Andhra Pradesh between 2014 and 2024 for the project, including the Godavari-Polavaram to Krishna-Vijayawada Link Project.
Naidu said the highway project was part of the NDA government's wider infrastructure development efforts in Andhra Pradesh and credited the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting the state's infrastructure plans.
