LTM Ltd, the technology arm of Larsen & Toubro, has inaugurated a new technology campus at Bengal Silicon Valley in New Town, Kolkata, marking a significant expansion of the group’s technology presence in eastern India. The first phase comprises two buildings covering nearly 8 lakh sq ft and can accommodate around 5,800 engineers and other professionals. The campus will focus on artificial intelligence, data, cloud and digital engineering. West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari also announced the allotment of an additional 10 acres of land to LTM for further expansion.
LTM Ltd, the technology arm of Larsen & Toubro, has inaugurated a new technology campus at New Town’s Bengal Silicon Valley hub in Kolkata, expanding the group’s presence in eastern India.
The first phase of the campus comprises two buildings spread across nearly 8 lakh sq ft and has capacity to accommodate around 5,800 engineers and other professionals. The facility is positioned as an integrated centre for technology, learning and innovation, serving clients across sectors including banking and financial services, travel, manufacturing, energy and technology.
The campus will focus on emerging technology areas such as artificial intelligence, data, cloud computing and digital engineering. L&T Chairman and Managing Director Shri S N Subrahmanyan said the company sees potential to develop the facility into a larger technology and innovation hub in the coming years.
West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari inaugurated the campus and announced the allotment of an additional 10 acres of land to LTM. The additional land is expected to support the company's plans for expanding its presence at the location.
L&T has also received approval to construct four additional towers at the site. The group said L&T Realty is already working on plans for the remaining towers, indicating that the campus is intended to expand beyond its current first phase.
The facility has been designed with a focus on sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient systems, smart building management solutions and measures for water conservation. The campus, named Ananda Niketan, draws inspiration from Bengal's tradition of learning and openness and is intended to provide an environment for collaboration and innovation.
The development has involved multiple L&T businesses. The group's construction arm executed the project, while its project management and facility management businesses have been involved in the development and will support its future operations.
During the peak construction phase, nearly 3,000 workers were engaged at the site. The project recorded nearly 8.5 million safe man-hours during construction, according to L&T.
The campus is expected to strengthen L&T's technology capabilities in eastern India while creating additional capacity for engineering and digital operations. With further towers planned and additional land allotted, the New Town facility could develop into a larger technology and innovation cluster for the group.
